Mission Statement

To provide knowledge and awareness of African and African American heritage through culturally informed educational activities which nurture individual abilities and build confidence in academic, social and artistic achievement.

History

Alkebulan Cultural Center was established in the early 1980’s. Founding board members were Versie Mae Richardson (renowned Mezzo-Soprano), Emerson R. Terry (Artist) and Dr. Maria Battle (Educator). The original location was a storefront located at Orange Grove and Worcester. The current location is a historical landmark Pasadena firehouse that provides a lovely backdrop to any event.
