TURNING MUD INTO MEANING
DAARINA has been a teacher in the Pasadena Unified School District for more than 20 years. She has teaching credentials in single subject, art education, and a Masters in Design-Based Learning Curriculum Development.
She inspires her Art students at Marshall Fundamental School to think creatively, inventively, and outside the box. Her ceramic, mosaic, and jewelry art convey a story-telling spirit that she hopes makes you ponder and smile.
DAARINA’SCeramic Designs evolve from endless creative epiphanies waiting to be exposed to the world. The medium of clay encourages enumerable options and possibilities. She strives to create unique art to share stories, capture moments, and to form one-of-a-kind functional pottery and body ornaments.
Her slogan, “Turning Mud into Meaning” describes the process and surprises that result as she and the clay share voices in its existence and purpose.
“My ceramic designs share an array of eclectic discoveries in clay. I enjoy creating both functional and decorative whimsical ceramic art. I often strive to join one, in the same. The limitless inspirations I receive while working with clay come to me as I collaborate with the medium to extract the meaning waiting to be shared.”
“The moment my hands touched clay, I was hooked! The connection with the mud motivates me to be a vehicle to bridge with resting ancestors, build creative forms, and marvel at the endless possibilities within the art medium of ceramics.” -Daarina
