Erin G. Wesley
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Erin G. Wesley is a self-taught, photographer, filmmaker and illustrator. Wesley was fortunate enough to be surrounded by several family members who are creative in their own right. Spending most of her life in a bustling creative environment, no doubt, contributed to her growth as an artist.
As an “artistic storyteller,” Wesley’s overall aim is to create visual experiences that inspire freedom, purpose and imagination. She holds value in connected-ness and firmly believes that through art, our shared experiences emerge. Her commitment is to provide meaningful, inclusive, and boundless visual imagery that represents who she is and depicts the world we share.
A wanderer by nature, the bulk of her work is inspired by her global journeys. She tells the stories of her subjects via journalistic-style portraits, most of which are photographed intimately - no more than two or three feet away. In regard to her drawings, her method closely mimics that of her photographic works, in that the subject is depicted in an up-close and personal way. With a combination of micro pigment ink and markers, she creates highly stylized, but recognizable portraits comprised of repetitive lines and intricate patterns.
