Jackie Ellis is a free lance artist and a resident of Altadena California where she has lived most of her life. She attended John Muir High School and shortly after went to work for a local billing company. Her interest in art did not present itself until many years later, when her youngest son, serving in the military, was deployed to Iraq. Needing something to do to combat her worries, she was encouraged by her husband to start painting.
She created her big eyed “Say Cheese” caricatures because she wanted her art to exemplify the warm and happy feelings she experienced when browsing through family photo albums. “I’m sure everyone can relate to the joy of looking at pictures of family, friends, and love ones, posing and saying cheese” she has stated.
Currently Jackie is enjoying retirement and family which includes her husband, two sons and three granddaughters. She is still painting. Abstracts are her favorite form of art, although she loves all aspects. Her present interests are in cityscapes, landscapes and trees. Jackie has no formal training or education in art, but says that it is something that she would definitely like to do now that she has the time.
